At the launch for this year’s Maggie’s Highland Golf Day in April it was announced that Tomatin Distillery had signed up as tournament sponsor. We then went on to make Maggie’s our charity partner, and have successfully raised over twenty thousand pounds in 2018.
Stephen Bremner, Managing Director (pictured, left) has said of the charity partnership, “The Maggie’s Centre in Inverness carries out fantastic work, which includes offering vital support to the local community, and are reliant solely on fundraising. We are proud of the money we’ve raised for this charity so far, and we’re looking forward to continuing that in 2019.”
Maggie’s provides free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends. As a charity Maggie’s can only provide cancer support free of charge thanks to the generosity of supporters. Maggie's is an independent charity that works in partnership with the NHS, each centre is built in the grounds of specialist NHS cancer hospitals at the invitation of the local NHS trust. By working in partnership, Maggie's and the NHS are able to enhance the support available to people with cancer and their family and friends before, during and after treatment.
After the golf day, money was raised by holding a whisky experience in the Maggie’s Highland centre based in Raigmore which included fine whisky sampling, nibbles, festive discounts and an bottle of Tomatin 36 Year Old as a raffle prize.
At our Christmas Fair, held on December 1st, we - with the help of all our amazing suppliers and craft stands, held a raffle with all proceeds being split between Maggies & Alzheimers UK.
We are already looking forward to reprising our role as tournament sponsor at the next Maggies Golf Event held in April 2019.
